Agartala, 5 May 2025 – Allegations of medical negligence have resurfaced at Gomati District Hospital in Udaipur Tepania, after a local woman with a fractured leg was reportedly denied timely treatment, forcing her family to rush her to Agartala for care.
The patient, Hasi Begum, a housewife from Netaji Nagar, was taken to the hospital following the injury. Her husband, Sohag Mia, claims that no doctor responded despite repeated pleas. “I informed the on-duty doctor about her condition, but no one came. She was in severe pain, and we had no option but to take her to Agartala,” he said.
The incident has intensified public anger in the region, where residents have consistently raised concerns over substandard services and lack of accountability at the district hospital. Many have accused the Medical Superintendent (MS) of ignoring complaints and allegedly using political influence to shield himself from consequences.
Calls for urgent reforms and administrative action have grown louder following the incident. The Medical Superintendent could not be reached for a statement at the time of filing this report.
