CM Appeals to Indian & Overseas Doctors to Join State’s Healthcare Revival

In a landmark move to strengthen Telangana’s public healthcare system, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the addition of nearly 7,000 beds across five new government super-speciality hospitals, all set to become operational by December 9, 2025.
The announcement came during the inauguration of AIG Hospitals’ new Banjara Hills campus, where the CM also made a heartfelt appeal to doctors from Telangana—both in India and abroad—to volunteer in the government sector as part of their social responsibility.
CM’s Call to Global Telugu Doctors
“Doctors from Hyderabad and Telangana who are now practising in the US, UK, and other countries can give back by offering their services when they visit home—even a week of service can make a difference,” the CM stated.
To facilitate this, the state government will create a voluntary registration platform for corporate doctors in India and overseas to serve in government-run hospitals. The initiative aims to enable both physical consultations and digital follow-ups, ensuring sustained impact even after doctors return abroad.
Major Infrastructure Push
CM Reddy detailed an ambitious transformation plan that includes:
- Redevelopment of Osmania General Hospital, Goshamahal
- New TIMS campuses in Alwal, Sanathnagar, and LB Nagar
- Expansion of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS)
- Construction of a new super-speciality hospital in Warangal
All five facilities are expected to be fully functional by December 2025, adding close to 7,000 beds and significantly enhancing the state’s ability to deliver specialized care to the underserved.
Budget Prioritizes Health and Education
Underscoring the government’s human development focus, CM Reddy highlighted this year’s budget allocations:
- ₹11,500 crore for the health sector
- ₹21,500 crore for education
He emphasized the Congress-led administration’s commitment to ensuring accessible, quality care for every citizen, particularly those in rural and remote regions.
AIG Hospitals Expands to Banjara Hills
The event also marked the opening of AIG Hospitals’ new Banjara Hills campus, a response to rising demand from Secunderabad and central Hyderabad residents.
Chairman Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy recalled the institution’s growth from a 300-bed gastroenterology hospital in Somajiguda to a nationally renowned centre of excellence.
“Former CM Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy saw the overcrowding and said, ‘We’ll give you land—go build the best hospital in the world,’” Dr. Reddy shared.
AIG has since trained over 1,500 medical professionals, contributed to over 1,000 scientific papers, and published in 50 medical textbooks.
Probing Cost Escalation at Warangal Hospital
Meanwhile, the CM has also ordered a probe into a cost escalation exceeding ₹600 crore in the Warangal super-speciality hospital project, reiterating the government’s stance on transparency and accountability in public health infrastructure.
