Clinics Run Without Qualified Doctors
The Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) discovered four clinics in Station Ghanpur, Jangaon district, operating without certified medical professionals. Following the raids, five self-styled doctors immediately shut down their centres and absconded. Officials confirmed that cases will be registered against a total of ten quacks for unauthorised medical practice and risking public health.
AYUSH Practitioner Misusing Allopathic Drugs
One shocking case involved a BHMS-qualified homoeopath, who was running a clinic under the guise of a retired Army officer. Investigators found him prescribing antibiotics and antipsychotic drugs—violating AYUSH regulations. TGMC has decided to escalate the matter to the Ministry of AYUSH, raising concerns about the misuse of modern medicines by alternative medicine practitioners.
Diagnostic Centre Under Scanner
Glory Diagnostics, a centre allegedly managed by unqualified staff, was another major violator. TGMC revealed that the MD in Pathology was rarely present, leaving the lab in the hands of technicians who conducted medical tests, charged patients heavily, and even paid commissions to RMPs (Registered Medical Practitioners) for referrals. A show-cause notice has been issued to the pathologist in charge, Dr. Ch. Pradeep Kumar.
Fake Brothers Duo Practising Medicine
In Shivunipalli, two brothers without any medical qualifications were found posing as doctors. They prescribed antibiotics, ordered blood tests, and administered steroid injections to unsuspecting patients. The duo also maintained referral ties with the diagnostic centre under probe, benefiting from commissions.
Another Quack Prescribing Steroids
On Palkurthi Road, TGMC officials identified yet another quack prescribing antibiotics and administering steroid injections to patients, despite having no medical training.
TGMC’s Next Steps
Dr. V Naresh Kumar, Public Relations Committee member of TGMC, told TOI that the council will write to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Jangaon, for strict action against Glory Diagnostics and other quacks. The ethics committee of TGMC is also set to review the matter.
