TGMC Intensifies Statewide Drive Against Unauthorised Medical Practice
The Telangana Medical Council continued its statewide crackdown on quackery and illegal medical practice on Tuesday by identifying 12 unauthorised clinics and first aid centres allegedly operating without valid medical qualifications or legal authorisation in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts.
The latest action comes just days after the Council booked 11 alleged quacks during inspection drives conducted in Nizamabad on May 9 as part of its intensified campaign against illegal medical practice across Telangana.
Surprise Inspections Reveal Illegal Medical Practice
According to officials, inspection teams found several individuals allegedly practising medicine without recognised qualifications or permission from competent authorities, raising major concerns regarding patient safety and public health.
The Council stated that quackery and unauthorised treatment centres pose a serious threat to healthcare standards and can endanger lives due to improper diagnosis, irrational medication use, and lack of professional accountability.
Speaking about the inspections, TGMC officials said strict legal action would be initiated against those involved under the provisions of the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act and Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission Act.
List of Clinics Identified During the Drive
During the inspections in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts, the teams identified several allegedly unauthorised clinics and first aid centres, including:
- Susmitha Health Clinic
- Rahim Clinic
- Sri Sai Clinic
- Rohini First Aid Centre
- Sri Durga Clinic
- Kurumurthy Clinic
- Laxmi Clinic
- Abhiram First Aid Centre
Apart from these, other first aid centres operating in the inspected areas were also found to be functioning without proper authorisation, according to reports.
Reports To Be Sent to Authorities for Legal Action
The Telangana Medical Council stated that detailed inspection reports would now be forwarded to:
- District Collectors
- District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs)
- Police authorities
- Drug Control Administration (DCA)
The purpose of the reports is to facilitate further legal and administrative action against those allegedly involved in illegal medical practice.
Earlier Crackdown in Nizamabad and Hyderabad
Earlier this month, the TGMC had booked 11 alleged quacks during inspections in Nizamabad district.
The Council had also conducted surprise raids on five unauthorised clinics operating in Hyderabad’s Old City area as part of its ongoing anti-quackery campaign.
Officials said the inspections are aimed at ensuring that only qualified and registered medical practitioners provide healthcare services to the public.
TGMC Warns Public Against Seeking Treatment From Unqualified Practitioners
Reiterating its commitment to eliminating quackery across Telangana, the Council announced that surprise inspections would continue in multiple districts across the state.
The TGMC also urged the public to seek medical treatment only from qualified and registered healthcare professionals to avoid risks associated with unscientific and unauthorised treatment practices.
The Council warned that strict action would continue against individuals and centres found violating medical regulations and practising without valid registration or recognised qualifications.
