Hyderabad: Surprise inspections by the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) have uncovered alleged irregularities in multiple skin and hair treatment clinics across Kondapur and Banjara Hills, raising serious concerns over unqualified medical practice and patient safety violations.

During inspections conducted on June 10, TGMC teams visited three clinics where they reportedly found treatments being provided without the presence of qualified dermatologists. The inspection teams included members of the council’s Legal and Anti-Quackery Committee and Executive Committee, who examined compliance with medical regulations and licensing norms.

At a Banjara Hills clinic, officials allegedly discovered that hair-loss treatments were being offered through online consultations without proper clinical registration and without qualified dermatology specialists physically overseeing the procedures. In another case, a clinic was found operating skin and aesthetic services without necessary approvals from competent authorities and without certified medical professionals.

A third establishment raised additional concern after inspectors reportedly observed that certain cosmetic procedures were being performed by dental practitioners, prompting questions about violations of permitted professional scope.

Following these findings, the TGMC stated that such practices pose serious risks to patient safety and violate medical ethics regulations. The council has initiated proceedings under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019, along with other applicable legal provisions.

Officials further indicated that registered practitioners found involved in or facilitating unauthorized medical services may face disciplinary action, including suspension of their licenses after due inquiry. The council has also recommended that district authorities, including the Hyderabad Collector and District Medical & Health Officer, take legal action against such establishments.

The Telangana Medical Council reiterated its commitment to curbing quackery, strengthening ethical medical practice, and ensuring patient safety. Further investigations and proceedings are underway.
