TGGDA Calls for Senior-Most Civil Surgeon Specialist to Lead Directorate

The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) has urged the Telangana government to immediately appoint an interim in-charge commissioner for the Directorate of Secondary Health Care (DSHC) to ensure the smooth functioning of the department ahead of the retirement of the current commissioner on May 31.

The Directorate of Secondary Health Care, formerly known as the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP), oversees secondary healthcare services across the state.

Doctors Seek Appointment Based on Vertical Seniority

According to reports, TGGDA leaders have recommended that the government appoint the senior-most civil surgeon specialist as interim commissioner, following the principle of vertical seniority.

The association stated that such an appointment would help maintain administrative stability during the transition period and ensure uninterrupted decision-making within the department.

Doctors’ representatives further noted that respecting seniority in key appointments would help preserve harmony within the medical fraternity and strengthen confidence among government doctors serving in the secondary healthcare system across Telangana.

Senior Leadership Crucial for Healthcare Administration: TGGDA

Speaking to the media, TGGDA President Narahari said appointing an experienced senior officer would be beneficial under the present circumstances.

He emphasised that senior officers possess extensive field-level experience and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the public healthcare system. According to the association, this would help in the effective implementation of ongoing healthcare programmes without disrupting essential medical services.

The matter is now awaiting a decision from the state health administration, which is expected to finalise the interim arrangement before the retirement of the current commissioner.

Concerns Over Delayed Salaries in TVVP Hospitals

Earlier, the Telangana Government Doctors Association had also raised concerns regarding delayed salary payments and administrative lapses in hospitals functioning under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad.

The association alleged that doctors and healthcare staff working in TVVP hospitals have been facing repeated delays in salary disbursement for several months, impacting staff morale as well as patient care services across government healthcare facilities in the state.
