Complaint Sent to CM Yogi Adityanath Demands High-Level Probe Into Medicine Procurement and Treatment Practices
Serious allegations regarding the supply of counterfeit and substandard medicines at Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University have surfaced, triggering demands for a high-level and impartial investigation into the matter.
According to reports, a resident of Sirsiya village has submitted a formal complaint to Yogi Adityanath, seeking a transparent inquiry into alleged irregularities linked to medicine procurement and treatment practices at the university hospital.
As per the complaint, the hospital previously witnessed a daily patient footfall of over 1,500 people. However, the number has now reportedly fallen below 200. The complainant alleged that the sharp decline in patient turnout was connected to the prescription of poor-quality medicines by certain doctors associated with the institution.
Allegations of Monopoly Companies Supplying Poor-Quality Medicines
The complaint further claimed that medicines manufactured by certain “monopoly” companies were allegedly being prescribed despite concerns over their quality and effectiveness. Reports suggest that these medicines were being recommended to patients even after repeated doubts regarding their standards.
The complainant also alleged that several medicines procured for free distribution among patients failed to meet required quality benchmarks. Some Ayurvedic medicines allegedly contained impurities such as soil, sand, and harmful colouring substances, raising concerns over patient safety and healthcare standards.
Poor and Rural Patients Allegedly Most Affected
According to the complaint, the alleged supply of substandard medicines has adversely impacted poor and rural patients who depend heavily on the university hospital for affordable treatment and healthcare services.
The complainant accused certain doctors of prescribing expensive medicines allegedly available at their private medical stores instead of recommending affordable alternatives. He claimed that such practices were placing an unnecessary financial burden on economically weaker sections seeking treatment at the institution.
Demand for Independent Investigation and Strict Action
In the letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the complainant urged the state government to order an independent and transparent investigation into the procurement, quality testing, and distribution of medicines at the university.
He also demanded strict action against any doctors, suppliers, or officials found guilty during the course of the investigation. So far, no official statement has been issued by the university administration regarding the allegations.
