Karauli, May 1: A female doctor posted at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Mandrayal has lodged a sexual harassment complaint against the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) and a clerk, prompting the registration of an FIR at the women’s police station, officials confirmed.

In her written complaint to the District Collector, the doctor alleged four years of sustained sexual, mental, and financial harassment by the CMHO and clerk. She claimed that official tasks were deliberately delayed unless she paid money, and that she was coerced into either making payments or yielding to sexual demands.

The doctor also alleged that she was subjected to caste-based slurs and derogatory language, further compounding her trauma. She stated the harassment not only affected her professional life but also caused severe distress at home—her husband has since left, and she is raising two young children alone.

Despite earlier complaints to various authorities, the doctor said no action was taken, and instead, her character was questioned. She finally approached the police, who have registered an FIR, although no arrests have been made so far. The case is being investigated by DSP Anuj Shubham.

District Collector Neelabh Saxena confirmed that an investigation committee has been formed and assured that a fair and impartial probe would follow. “A health committee meeting was held on Friday, and following that, the complaint was filed. Appropriate steps are being taken,” he told NDTV Hindi.

The incident adds to growing concerns over workplace safety for women in India’s healthcare sector, following similar recent cases, including one at KEM Hospital, Mumbai, where a professor was denied anticipatory bail in a separate sexual harassment case.
