Video Sparks Outrage, Police Launch Manhunt
Anekal: A radiologist from a private scanning centre is absconding after a viral video allegedly showed him sexually assaulting a 34-year-old woman during an ultrasound. Based on her complaint, the Anekal police have registered a case and initiated efforts to trace and arrest him.
Woman Records Abuse After Husband’s Advice
The woman, a mother of three, reported that the radiologist touched her inappropriately during the scan. When she confronted him, he allegedly shouted at her and asked her to leave if she did not trust him. She informed her husband, who advised her to re-enter the room and record the procedure.
In the video, the accused is allegedly seen conducting the scan while also touching her private parts, reports TNIE.
Incident Occurred During Routine Scan
The woman had visited the centre around 3 pm on Monday for an ultrasound after being referred by a government hospital doctor. Before the scan, the radiologist asked her to drink two glasses of water. When she lay on the examination bed, he allegedly began touching her inappropriately under the pretext of scanning.
Second Visit Captures Alleged Misconduct on Camera
Following her husband’s advice, the woman re-entered the scan room with her phone camera switched on. She alleged that the radiologist repeated the act, and she recorded the misconduct. She then approached the police station and filed a formal complaint, adding that the accused threatened to kill her if she reported the incident.
Claims of Police Inaction Surface
The woman’s family alleged that they brought the radiologist to the police station, but he was allowed to leave, enabling him to escape in his SUV. They also claimed to have staged a protest outside the station.
However, a senior officer at Anekal police station denied the allegations, stating, “They are baseless and nobody protested outside the police station. The radiologist is still at large, and efforts are on to arrest him. If the accused was brought to the police station, how will he be let off in such a serious case?”
Case Registered Under Multiple Charges
Police have registered a case of sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace against the radiologist. A search is ongoing to locate the accused.
