Muktsar – In a landmark move to bolster healthcare infrastructure, the Punjab Government has announced the recruitment of 1,000 MBBS doctors—marking the biggest hiring drive in decades for the state’s public health sector.
The recruitment will fill long-pending vacancies for Medical Officers across government hospitals and health centres, significantly strengthening the state’s frontline healthcare capabilities.
Applications will be accepted online through the official website of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, from April 25 to May 15.
Detailed information regarding eligibility, selection criteria, and application procedures will be made available on the BFUHS website, officials confirmed.
The announcement has received a warm welcome from the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA), which lauded the government’s efforts to improve patient care delivery and reduce the burden on existing medical staff.
“This recruitment is not only timely but crucial for delivering quality healthcare to Punjab’s rural and urban populations alike,” a PCMSA spokesperson said.
The state has faced a persistent shortage of medical professionals, especially in remote and underserved areas. This move is expected to significantly alleviate staffing gaps and enhance public healthcare accessibility.
