Lucknow: Authorities have launched an investigation against a senior doctor from Sultanpur district after an alleged audio clip surfaced in which he is reportedly heard making inappropriate remarks and advances toward a female nurse.
According to media reports, in the audio clip, the doctor can be heard allegedly asking the nurse to “be friends” with him, expressing his “desire for love,” and offering to “take care of her financially.” He also purportedly invited her to meet him, go shopping, and “spend time” together. When the nurse refused, the doctor allegedly suggested she introduce him to another woman, assuring that he would “bear all expenses.”
The alleged incident reportedly occurred when the doctor was posted as the Superintendent at Lambhua Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sultanpur.
The nurse, who said she felt uncomfortable with the doctor’s repeated remarks, reportedly recorded the phone conversation as evidence. During the 20-minute call, she is heard firmly rejecting his advances, stating that she would rather resign from her job than comply with his inappropriate requests. Despite her clear refusals, the doctor allegedly persisted in his attempts, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar.
Following the viral circulation of the audio clip, the nurse filed a formal complaint with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Bharat Bhushan, who subsequently formed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter.
“This case has come to our notice. A written complaint has been received, and an investigation team has been formed to record statements from both sides. Appropriate action will follow based on the findings,” Dr. Bhushan told India Today.
Notably, the doctor had already been transferred from Lambhua CHC to Kadipur CHC earlier this month following allegations of medical negligence. His transfer came shortly after a woman died at Lambhua CHC on October 14, with her family accusing the doctor and staff of failing to provide adequate treatment.
The district health administration has stated that further disciplinary action will be taken once the inquiry team submits its report.
