A 28-year-old doctor from Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh has died under highly suspicious circumstances, with the case now being treated as a suspected murder after shocking revelations in the postmortem report. The discovery of multiple head injuries and absence of water in the stomach has raised serious questions about the sequence of events leading to his death.
Postmortem Findings Point to Possible Murder
The postmortem report has become a crucial turning point in the investigation. Doctors identified multiple severe head injuries, including trauma at the back of the head, near the ear, and across the upper occipital–temporal–parietal region.
Additionally, a distinct injury mark was observed on the left side of the neck. Significantly, no water was found in the stomach, strongly indicating that the doctor had died before his body was thrown into the well—pointing firmly toward homicide rather than accidental drowning.
Disappearance After Attending Wedding समारोह
The deceased, a resident of Macharsath village in Banswara district, had travelled to Bori village under Peeplakhunt police station limits on April 15 to attend a friend’s wedding.
According to family members, his phone switched off around 11 PM that night, after which he went missing. When he could not be traced, a missing person complaint was filed the following day, triggering a search operation.
Altercation With Local Youths Under Scanner
Investigators have uncovered that the doctor was involved in an altercation between 8 and 9 PM on the night of the incident. Three local youths allegedly confronted him and asked for a beedi, leading to a brief dispute.
Although the matter appeared resolved at the time, police are now examining whether the conflict escalated later. Wedding videos have confirmed the presence of the youths, who were reportedly not invited guests. One of them had allegedly warned the doctor against stepping out alone.
Evidence Suggests Possible Assault and Escape Attempt
The victim’s family has claimed to have discovered crucial evidence near the scene, pointing toward a violent assault. According to his uncle:
- One shoe was found stuck in barbed wire fencing
- The other shoe was located some distance away
- A blood-stained shirt and a polythene bag were recovered
These findings suggest that the doctor may have attempted to escape during the attack.
Body Found in Disturbing Condition
The doctor’s body was recovered from a well on April 19, approximately half a kilometre from the wedding venue. The body was found in a semi-naked state, with the lower part unclothed. His pants were later retrieved from the well.
Having remained submerged for nearly three days, the body showed advanced swelling and decomposition, further complicating the investigation.
Personal Belongings Recovered, Robbery Ruled Out
During a follow-up search on April 20, police drained the well and recovered several personal belongings, including:
- Mobile phone
- Purse
- Pants and undergarments
Importantly, the purse still contained his ID card, ATM cards, and medicines, leading investigators to rule out robbery as a motive.
Multiple Angles Under Investigation
Police are exploring multiple leads, including:
- The role of the three local youths
- The involvement of acquaintances from the medical community present at the wedding
- Analysis of call detail records (CDR) to track movements and communication
Authorities have confirmed that several suspects have been detained for questioning, and even individuals from the doctor’s close circle are under scrutiny due to suspicious activity.
Police Register Murder Case, Probe Intensifies
Peeplakhunt SHO Chhabilal stated that a case has been registered based on the family’s complaint alleging murder. With strong forensic indicators and emerging evidence, investigators believe the truth behind the case will soon come to light.
Rising Concerns Over Safety
The incident has sparked concern over personal safety and the circumstances surrounding violent crimes in social settings, especially in rural areas where such cases often go unnoticed initially.
Further developments are awaited as the investigation continues.
