New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg to review the Ayush sector, highlighting the importance of holistic health, traditional medicine, and global collaborations.

    • Emphasised the need to standardize protocols in yoga, naturopathy, and pharmacy.
    • Stressed the importance of preventive healthcare and Ayush’s role in boosting rural economies.
  2. Economic & Global Growth of Ayush:
    • The Ayush manufacturing market surged from $2.85 billion in 2014 to $23 billion in 2023.
    • Over 43,000 studies on the Ayush Research Portal, with research publications in the last 10 years surpassing those of the previous 60 years.
    • The launch of the Ayush visa to boost medical tourism.
  3. Policy & Research Advancements:
    • Strengthened collaboration with national and international institutions.
    • The WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar reinforces India’s leadership in traditional medicine.
    • Traditional medicine now included in WHO’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).
  4. Digital & AI Integration:
    • Ayush Grid to leverage AI and digital technologies for better access and research.
    • The iGot platform will host more holistic Y-Break yoga content.
  5. Massive Global Outreach:
    • 24.52 crore people participated in International Yoga Day 2024, making it a global phenomenon.
    • 2025 marks the 10th year of IDY, with increased participation expected worldwide.

Government Commitment to Ayush:

PM Modi reiterated that the government will continue to support the Ayush sector through policy reforms, research, and innovation. Transparency, integrity, and strategic interventions will be key to harnessing its full potential.

The meeting was attended by Union Health Minister J P Nadda, MoS Prataprao Jadhav, and senior officials.
