Chandigarh: The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) has said that the Emergency services not disrupted on Oct 7 after the assault on doctor as per the show-cause notice issued by the Director, PGIMER. Narrating the incident, ADR in its reply said that on 7th October a woman senior resident doctor was manhandled by a patient’s attendant and a woman security officer who intervened was assaulted in the emergency department. The attack left the doctors emotionally distressed prompting the medical staff to withhold their duties. As news of the assault spread, residents, including Dr. Hariharan, President, ARD, reached the emergency department. The ARD demanded for an institutional FIR against the patient’s attendant. It is being said that the ADR never incited for withdrawal of emergency service and instead it was agreed to temporarily suspend their duties due to the distressing incident.
