Ahmedabad : After a patient who was brought to the Faith Hospital on the Sarkjhej – Makarba road without pulse died at the hospital his relatives allegedly became violent and attacked the doctors. Alamkhan Pathan, the patient had been undergoing treatment for heart disease at Dr Shaikh’s hospital for the past three years. He also suffered from diabetes, blood pressure issues, and other ailments. He was admitted to the hospital previously also after his heart rate dropped and was rushed back to the hospital after his condition worsen but he was declared dead on arrival.
The doctors performed CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) in a last-ditch effort to save him but to no avail. According to the complaint filed by the hospital, four of the deceased’s relatives attacked the Dr Uzer Shaikh and the staff. They also vandalised the hospital. The police were called to the scene, but the attackers fled with the body of Alamkhan Pathan, threatening the hospital staff as they left. The Sarkhej police have registered a case based on the complaint and have started an investigation against unknown persons. They have also obtained CCTV footage of the incident.
