A 45-year-old man died at BK Civil Hospital in Faridabad on Monday, triggering tension after his friends alleged serious lapses in emergency care, including delay in treatment and a non-functional elevator.

Victim Identified as Bihar Native Working in Faridabad

The deceased, Faiz Ahmed, a welder from Gopalganj district, had been living in Sanjay Colony for several years. According to reports, he suddenly collapsed at home while washing clothes after complaining of severe chest pain and breathing difficulty.

Friends Allege Delay, Claim They Carried Him to Third Floor

Ahmed’s friends, including Taufiq, rushed him to the hospital immediately as his condition worsened. However, they alleged that instead of providing urgent medical attention, hospital staff insisted on completing formalities such as generating an OPD slip before treatment.

They further claimed that the hospital elevator was not working, forcing them to carry the unconscious patient to the third floor via a long underground ramp, which may have delayed critical care.

Hospital Administration Rejects Claims

The hospital authorities have strongly denied the allegations. Officials stated that Ahmed was brought in a “near-death” condition and was attended to without any delay.

Faridabad Chief Medical Officer Dr Jayant Ahuja said that the patient was already critical upon arrival and that the hospital lift was fully functional at the time. “There was no delay caused by any technical issue,” he clarified.

Questions Raised Over Emergency Preparedness

The incident has sparked outrage among those present at the hospital, with several calling it a case of “gross negligence.” Concerns have been raised about the availability of basic emergency infrastructure, including functional elevators and streamlined admission procedures in critical cases.

The case has once again put the spotlight on emergency response systems and infrastructure gaps in public healthcare facilities.
