Doctor’s Death Under Suspicious Circumstances Triggers Probe into Workplace Stress Allegations
A tragic incident has come to light from Hyderabad, where an on-duty Unani medical officer was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a private hospital in Balapur on Monday evening. The incident has prompted police to launch an investigation amid allegations of workplace harassment and excessive work pressure raised by the doctor’s family.
Body Found Inside Hospital Room After Shift
According to police, the doctor, a resident of Yakutpura and originally from Visakhapatnam, was discovered inside a room on the second floor of Recovery Hospital after hospital staff became concerned when he failed to return following the completion of his duties.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the doctor had gone to the room after finishing his shift and did not respond to repeated phone calls or knocks on the door. Hospital staff eventually forced open the room and found him unconscious. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, he was declared dead.
Forensic Examination Underway
Balapur police stated that they received a Dial 100 alert regarding a death at the hospital. A forensic Clues team visited the scene and recovered two syringes for further examination.
Investigators suspect that the doctor may have administered a substance to himself. However, officials have clarified that the exact cause of death can only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis are completed.
According to reports, the deceased was a qualified Unani doctor who had obtained his bachelor’s degree from Visakhapatnam.
Family Alleges Workplace Harassment and Excessive Pressure
The doctor’s family has alleged that he had been experiencing severe workplace pressure and harassment for a prolonged period. They claimed that hospital management imposed unreasonable demands and work-related stress, which adversely affected his mental well-being.
The family further alleged that attempts were made to keep the incident from attracting public attention. They claimed that the body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem and accused concerned individuals of trying to handle the matter discreetly.
Demand for Fair Investigation
The bereaved family has appealed to the government and senior police officials to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s death.
Police have registered the case and are awaiting post-mortem and forensic reports, which are expected to play a crucial role in determining the exact cause of death and whether any external factors contributed to the incident.
