Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College & Hospital in Jajpur district on Saturday. The state government has set up the medical college and hospital with an expenditure of ₹491.25 crore.

Key Highlights of the Inauguration

  • The new medical college has received approval for 50 MBBS seats for the 2024-25 academic year from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
  • The Chief Minister assured that the state government will take steps to double the MBBS seats in the next academic year.
  • Several infrastructure projects worth ₹16 crore were also inaugurated on the hospital premises.

Additional Announcements & Projects

  • Foundation stone laid for a new Nursing College in Jajpur, with a budget allocation of ₹12 crore.
  • Inauguration of a town hall and the renovation of Vyasa Sarovar (pond) in Jajpur town.
  • ₹50 crore allocated for the redevelopment of subsidiary shrines at Maa Biraja temple.
  • ₹22.43 crore earmarked for the development of Biraja Agneswar Haat.
  • ₹30 crore approved for a new bus terminal in Jajpur.

The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to healthcare, education, and infrastructure development, ensuring better medical services and facilities for the people of Jajpur and surrounding areas.
