Prime Minister thanks doctors for their dedication on National Doctors’ Day, praises healthcare reforms, expanding medical education and Indian medical teams serving in Venezuela under Operation Amistad

On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt greetings to doctors across the country, acknowledging their unwavering commitment, compassion and tireless service in strengthening India’s healthcare system. He described doctors as the backbone of the nation’s healthcare ecosystem and expressed gratitude for their invaluable contribution to public health.

In a message shared on X on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said the dedication and selfless service of doctors have earned the trust and gratitude of millions of Indians, particularly during difficult and challenging times.

PM Highlights Growth of India’s Healthcare Infrastructure

Highlighting the transformation of India’s healthcare sector over the past decade, Prime Minister Modi said the country has witnessed unprecedented growth in medical education and healthcare infrastructure.

According to the Prime Minister, the number of medical colleges in India has more than doubled over the last ten years, while both undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate medical seats have increased significantly. He said the expansion is creating greater opportunities for aspiring doctors, strengthening the country’s healthcare workforce and improving access to quality medical care across urban and rural India.

The Prime Minister noted that these reforms are helping build a more robust healthcare ecosystem capable of meeting the country’s growing medical needs.

Doctors Will Play Key Role in Building Viksit Bharat

Emphasising the importance of healthcare professionals in India’s development journey, Prime Minister Modi said doctors will continue to play a pivotal role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.

He stated that medical professionals will remain at the forefront of promoting preventive healthcare, advancing medical research, adopting innovative technologies and ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare services for every citizen.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that strengthening healthcare infrastructure and medical education remains a key priority for the government.

Prime Minister Modi also paid tribute to Indian doctors and healthcare professionals currently serving in Venezuela as part of Operation Amistad.
