Nashik prison doctors held for accepting Rs.30,000 for issuing fake medical certificate

Nashik: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested two doctors at Nashik central jail for accepting bribe of Rs.30,000 for issuing fake medical certificates. It is being alleged that the doctors have demanded the bribe for issuing a fitness certificate to the inmate of the jail. The issue relates to a 65 year old inmates who was seeking his release from jail as he had already served 14 years of imprisonment. But as per the prison regulations he required a medical certificate for his release by the prison doctors. The doctors demanded Rs.40,000 for the medical certificate but after negotiations agreed on Rs.30000 bribe for issuing the certificate.

The relatives of the inmate then approached the Nashik Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and a trap was laid by the officials of ACB. The ACB officials caught both the doctors red handed while accepting the bribe. Following the arrest the Mumbai Naka Police Station have registered an FIR under the relevant provision of Prevention of Corruption Act against the doctors and further investigation is under progress.
