Family Alleges Negligence After Spending Nearly Rs 10 Lakh on Treatment

A protest broke out on Monday at Mimhans Neuro Hospital in Meerut after the family of a woman undergoing treatment for a brain haemorrhage accused the hospital of medical negligence. The incident took place in the Medical Police Station area, prompting police intervention to restore order and prevent further escalation.

Patient Admitted in Critical Condition, Family Questions Treatment Outcome

According to the patient’s relatives, the woman, a resident of Begumbagh under the Nauchandi police station area, was admitted to the hospital on June 9 after suffering a brain haemorrhage. The family claimed that despite spending approximately Rs 9–10 lakh on her treatment, her condition remains critical with no significant improvement.

The alleged lack of recovery led to growing dissatisfaction among family members, eventually triggering a protest inside the hospital premises. Relatives accused the hospital of failing to provide effective treatment despite the substantial medical expenses incurred.

Student Leader Intervenes, Assures Action

Following the protest, Chaudhary Charan Singh University student leader Vineet Chaprana arrived at the hospital and met with the patient’s family to understand their concerns. He also held discussions with the hospital administration and assured the family that their complaints would be taken seriously.

Chaprana stated that the matter could be raised before the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and senior Health Department officials if required, seeking a fair review of the allegations.

Police Restore Calm, Promise Fair Inquiry

Medical police personnel reached the hospital after receiving reports of the disturbance. Officers spoke separately with the patient’s relatives and hospital authorities and assured both parties that a fair inquiry would be conducted. Following these discussions, the situation was brought under control.

Hospital Rejects Allegations, Says Patient Was Critically Ill on Admission

The hospital management has strongly denied the allegations of negligence, describing them as baseless. According to hospital officials, the patient was admitted in an extremely critical condition, and her family has been regularly informed about her medical status since the beginning of treatment.

The management stated that the woman continues to receive treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors and that there has been no lapse in medical care. Hospital authorities further alleged that the protest was unjustified despite ongoing efforts to manage the patient’s condition.

Family Alleges High Medical Expenses Amid Critical Condition

The patient’s brother-in-law claimed that approximately Rs 10 lakh had been spent on the treatment. He further alleged that the family was recently informed by doctors that the patient’s condition remains serious and that continued treatment would be required.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns surrounding alleged medical negligence, treatment transparency, and communication between healthcare providers and patients’ families. No official inquiry findings have been released so far.
