Gurugram — Multi-specialty hospital chain Medanta has announced plans to set up a 400-bed super specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam, with a capital investment of ₹500 crore. In a stock exchange filing, Medanta stated that its Board of Directors, in a meeting held on April 28, approved the acquisition of three acres of land from Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd. for ₹30 crore.

The Guwahati project, part of Medanta’s broader national expansion strategy, aims to strengthen its footprint in underserved regions and cater to over 50 million people across Assam and neighboring states. The facility, to be located along National Highway 27, will offer more than 20 super specialties, including transplants and advanced robotic surgeries.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, said the move reaffirms the group’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare to regions that lack advanced medical infrastructure. Group CEO Pankaj Sahni emphasized Guwahati’s strategic location, calling it the “gateway to the Northeast,” offering vital connectivity across the region.

With the addition of the Guwahati hospital, Medanta’s network will expand to seven facilities, complementing its existing hospitals in Gurugram, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, Patna, and an under-construction site in Noida.
