Nagpur : Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has brought good news to MBBS and BDS having PhD by making amendments to its recruitment rules whereby allowing MBBS and BDS having PhD to apply for positions such as scientist E,F,G,H Director and DG (Director General) at the ICMR. Earlier only those candidates who completed a PhD after a traditional postgraduate degree in science (MSc) were eligible for these senior posts.

ICMR has finally amended the rules and revised education qualification required for direct recruitment to senior level scientist position as MBBS or an equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India(MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC) with a PhD from a recognized university in specified subject. Further the specified subjects include various medical disciplines including internal medicine, community medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics along with a clear mention of “any relevant subject in medical/biomedical science.
