Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Human Rights Commission has ordered an inquiry into the strange death of a woman, who felt unconscious after being administered an injection at Neyyattinkara taluk hospital while undergoing the treatment of kidney stone. The husband of the deceased patient has alleged negligence on the part of the hospital as her deceased wife was having some allergy issues and the doctor failed to do necessary investigation for her allergies. The deceased patient husband alleged that the cause of the death is the injection being injected to her wife without investigating her allergies. Based on the complaint of the deceased patient husband the police has filed against the treating doctor under section 125 of Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS). On the other hand the Kerala State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) has started an inquiry following the allegation of the deceased patient husband. KSHRC has directed the Thiruvananthapuram District Medical Officer to investigate and prepare a report about the incident within 15 days.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) has strongly come in support of the treating doctor and out-rightly rejected the allegations of the deceased patient husband. The association in its statement has said that the injection was a common injection administered to patient with abdominal pain. The women died due to rapid and severe allergic reaction which can happen to any patient and which cannot be termed as negligence of the treating doctor.
