Ballari, February 13: In a shocking incident, a doctor at a government hospital in Ballari was forced to stitch a patient’s wounds under a mobile phone flashlight due to an unexpected power outage. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, sparking concern over the hospital’s emergency backup facilities.
Power Cut Leaves Emergency Ward in Darkness
The patient, who sustained minor injuries in a road accident, was rushed to the emergency ward for treatment. However, due to the lack of backup power, doctors had no choice but to use mobile flashlights to complete the stitching procedure.
Hospital Reacts to Power Fluctuations
Reacting to the incident, Medical Superintendent Shiva Nayak addressed the media, acknowledging the power issues.
“On February 13, there were multiple power fluctuations, and the automatic power restore system was not functioning properly. It took around five minutes to restore power, and this video was captured during that time,” he explained.
The viral video also shows other patients and medical staff struggling in the dark, further highlighting the challenges faced by healthcare professionals during such unexpected crises.
The incident has sparked concerns over the preparedness of government hospitals to handle emergency power failures, with many calling for immediate improvements in backup power solutions.
