Kanpur — A senior resident doctor at Kanpur’s GSVM Medical College has been booked for rape and assault following a complaint by a woman doctor who worked at the same institution.
According to Chakeri Police Station in-charge Santosh Shukla, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections based on the victim’s allegations. Further investigation is underway.
The woman, also a doctor, alleged that she was in a relationship with the accused for over two years. She claimed he exploited her sexually on the pretext of marriage. “He used to call me to his room citing academic discussions and then forced physical relations,” she said in her statement.
She also accused him of physical violence when she insisted on marriage, after which he allegedly blocked her contact and fled to Bulandshahr.
The woman doctor has stated that the ordeal left her mentally distressed and depressed. Police say further legal action will be based on the investigation’s findings.
