Grieving Father Recalls Sacrifices as Family Loses Sole Breadwinner
A devastating air ambulance crash in Jharkhand has claimed the lives of seven people, including a young government doctor posted in Ranchi. The tragic incident has left families shattered and the medical community in deep mourning.
Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta, who was serving at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi, was part of the medical team on board the ill-fated aircraft. The Beechcraft C90 air ambulance crashed near Simaria in Chatra district while en route from Ranchi to Delhi on Monday evening.
The aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, was transporting a patient to Delhi when it went down in the Bariatu Panchayat area, a remote forested region. Rescue teams later reached the crash site and recovered the bodies.
Officials confirmed that all seven people on board, including two pilots, medical personnel, and the patient, lost their lives in the accident. The bodies were subsequently sent for post-mortem examination as authorities began further investigation into the cause of the crash.
Dr Gupta was known among colleagues as a sincere and dedicated professional who was deeply committed to patient care. His untimely death has come as a huge shock to fellow doctors and hospital staff in Ranchi.
His father, Bajrangi Prasad, expressed unimaginable grief while speaking to the media. He shared that he had sold all his land and invested his life’s savings to educate his son and fulfil the dream of seeing him serve society as a doctor.
Recalling the final update he received, the grieving father said he was informed that the flight would land in Delhi at 7:11 pm. However, around 8:00 pm, he received news that the air ambulance had crashed in the forests of Simaria in Chatra district.
Dr Gupta leaves behind his wife and a seven-year-old son. A meritorious student who completed his MBBS from Cuttack, Odisha, he was the sole earning member of his family. With his sudden demise, the family now faces emotional and financial uncertainty amid overwhelming sorrow.
