Private specialists to serve in government hospitals under Ayushman Yojana
Jamshedpur, 5 February – In a major step towards improving healthcare services in government hospitals, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has introduced the ‘Doctor on Call’ initiative. This program allows specialist doctors from the private sector to provide treatment in government hospitals, ensuring high-quality healthcare for patients.
How the Initiative Works
Under this program, private doctors will serve at Community Health Centers (CHCs), sub-divisional hospitals, and Sadar hospitals, with their payments covered through funds generated by the Ayushman Yojana at pre-determined rates.
Medical Specialists on Board
The initiative has received positive responses from the medical community, with 12 doctors already volunteering, including:
- 2 Paediatricians
- 4 Gynecologists
- 3 Anesthesia Specialists
- 1 Surgeon
- 2 MBBS Doctors
- 1 Medical Specialist
Their participation is expected to improve local healthcare and reduce the need for patient referrals to larger hospitals.
Doctor Assignments Across Blocks
Specialists will be strategically placed across various blocks to ensure widespread coverage:
- Golmuri cum Jugsalai – 1 Paediatrician, 1 Gynecologist, 1 Anesthesia Specialist
- Ghatsila – 1 Paediatrician, 1 Gynecologist, 1 Anesthesia Specialist
- Musabani – 1 Gynecologist, 1 Surgeon
- District Hospital – 2 MBBS Doctors, 1 Gynecologist, 1 Medical Specialist
Aims & Benefits
According to Ananya Mittal, the primary objective is to reduce patient referrals from block areas, ensuring that residents receive quality healthcare in their own localities. Additionally, Ayushman Yojana funds will be utilized to procure advanced medical equipment for government hospitals, further strengthening the healthcare infrastructure.
