Ahmedabad: The Government Dental College and Hospital, Jamnagar has once again brought pride to Gujarat by winning the National Award for Outstanding Services in Dental Health for the second consecutive year.
The award, conferred by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, recognised the hospital’s special efforts in raising awareness about oral hygiene and the dangers of tobacco use. Over 180 dental colleges participated in the national-level competition.
Innovative Awareness Campaigns
The hospital’s activities — including street plays, rallies, lectures, essay and painting competitions, and dental diagnosis camps — earned special appreciation during the felicitation ceremony. These initiatives have helped spread awareness about oral health to communities at large.
Leaders Congratulate the Institute
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulated the institute on social media, stating:
“Maintaining oral health is extremely important for health care. The Government Dental College and Hospital in Jamnagar has been awarded the prestigious National Award for the second consecutive year for its programmes to create awareness about dental health and the harms caused by tobacco use. This is a matter of pride not only for the hospital but for the entire state.”
Jamnagar Collector also lauded the achievement on X, noting that the recognition highlighted the hospital’s exemplary work in public health awareness and brought “glory to the state.”
