Hundreds Rally at Bahu Fort as Family Alleges Foul Play, Rejects ‘Accidental Fall’ Theory
A mysterious death of a 27-year-old doctor in the Gandoh area of Doda district has triggered widespread outrage, with hundreds of residents staging a candlelight march in Bahu Fort demanding a fair and transparent investigation.
The protest, held days after the doctor’s body was recovered under suspicious circumstances on April 20, saw locals and family members unite to seek justice, alleging foul play in the incident.
Family Questions Circumstances, Alleges Possible Conspiracy
The deceased doctor, a resident of Chacha Talab near Bahu Fort, was initially reported to have died after falling into a 300-foot-deep gorge in the Bhalesa area of Doda district. However, the family has strongly contested the accidental fall theory.
They claim that the condition of the body raises serious doubts and points towards a possible conspiracy. Adding to the suspicion, the family alleged that the doctor’s mobile phone had been formatted and his social media accounts deactivated shortly after the incident.
Candlelight March Draws Massive Support
The candlelight march, organised by the bereaved family, began from the doctor’s residence in Bahu Fort and culminated at Saryara Sabha. Participants carried candles, raised slogans, and demanded justice.
A significant number of local residents joined the protest, reflecting growing public concern over the case and the demand for accountability.
Political Leaders Join Protest, Demand CBI Inquiry
Senior BJP leader Rajeev Charak extended support to the grieving family and called for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing the need for an impartial investigation.
Bahu constituency MLA Vikram Randhawa also participated in the march and raised concerns over the circumstances of the death. He alleged that there could be attempts to suppress the matter and emphasized the need for a thorough probe.

While authorities have handed over the body to the family, the incident continues to spark debate and concern across the region.
