First-Year Dermatology Resident at SMS Medical College Declared Dead on Arrival; Post-Mortem to Determine Exact Cause

A 37-year-old resident doctor from the Department of Dermatology at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur was found dead inside his locked car in the city’s Adarsh Nagar area on Monday, police said.

The deceased was a native of Udaipurwati in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district and was pursuing his first-year residency in the Dermatology Department at SMS Medical College.

According to police, the doctor drove to Frontier Colony on Monday morning and parked his vehicle outside a residential house. When the car remained stationary for several hours, local residents became suspicious and checked the vehicle at around 1 pm. They found him lying unconscious in the driver’s seat, with foam and fluid visible around his mouth.

After receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot. As the vehicle was locked from the inside, officers broke the front window panes to gain access and shifted the doctor to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Liquor Bottle Recovered; FSL Team Examines Scene

During the inspection, police recovered a quarter bottle of liquor from inside the vehicle. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team examined the scene, and the body was shifted to the SMS Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination to be conducted by a medical board.

Suffocation Suspected, Exact Cause Awaiting Post-Mortem Report

Investigators suspect that the car may have run out of fuel, causing the air conditioner to stop functioning. Police believe the doctor may have remained trapped inside the locked vehicle in extreme heat, which could have resulted in suffocation. However, officials have clarified that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.

Police have initiated an investigation and are examining all possible circumstances surrounding the incident.
