Alappuzha: A interstate racket of cyber thugs duped a doctor of a whopping Rs. 7.65 crores after he fell prey to promise of huge profits in online share investment. Acting on the complaint of the doctor the cyber police has arrested three cyber criminals named Abdul Sanath, Praveen aka Kannan and Mohammed Anus who are part of a larger interstate racket.

The Doctor was lured into their online share trade scheme by initially sending him messages from two investment firms. The Doctor started responding to the messages and the cyber criminals started calling him posing as officials from the two investment firms. To gain the confidence of doctor they started taking classes and how to make investment and book huge profits. They cleared all the doubts of the doctor and convinced him the authenticity of the deal. On gaining the trust of the doctor the cyber criminals asked the doctor to deposit investment money if five different accounts. After investment the doctor started receiving messages stating that his money was growing rapidly and that they have transferred the profits from his investment into his account. Unfortunately the doctor trusting the cyber criminals never back checked his account. Finally the doctor was asked to deposit Rs. 50 lakhs which he did to realize that he has been cheated. The cyber crime have identified the five accounts which was used to siphon out the money of doctor. The three cyber criminals that have been arrested are being interrogated to know the whereabouts of other gang members said the police.
