Raids Uncover Illegal MTP Service at Dharuhera Hospital
Sonepat: The Health Department, acting on a tip-off, raided a hospital in Dharuhera and arrested two individuals for allegedly running an illegal abortion business. However, the doctor involved in the operation managed to flee.
Decoy Operation Leads to Arrests
Civil Surgeon Dr. Jayant Ahuja initiated the operation after receiving information about unauthorized medical procedures being performed at SL Hospital. A joint team, including Dr. Sumit Kaushik and Dr. Jitender Sharma, sent in a decoy patient who was directed to meet Rajeev, an employee at the hospital. The decoy was offered an illegal MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy) for Rs 8,000, which was paid in advance.
After the patient was admitted without proper documentation, a raid team entered the premises and apprehended two suspects—Harish from Alwar, Rajasthan, and Rajeev from Santosh Colony, Dharuhera. However, Dr. Rohit Dhariwal, the doctor offering the abortion service, escaped by scaling the hospital wall, taking the decoy’s money with him.
Investigation Underway
The police have registered a case against the suspects, and efforts are underway to apprehend Dr. Dhariwal. The raid highlights ongoing concerns about illegal abortion practices in the region, with authorities promising further investigations into the matter.
