Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a meeting on Sunday at his official residence, Oak Over, to address the land transfer issue concerning the Radha Soami Satsang Beas Charitable Hospital in Bhota. He directed the immediate preparation of a draft amendment bill to resolve the matter.

According to an official release, the Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the hospital remains operational, providing quality healthcare to residents in the vicinity.

Sukhu announced plans to introduce the amendment bill to the Land Ceiling Act on the first day of the Winter Session of the Vidhansabha, scheduled to begin on December 18 in Dharamshala. He instructed that the draft of the amendment bill be ready for presentation at the upcoming cabinet meeting.

“While initially considering an ordinance to provide relief to the organization, the proximity of the assembly session makes the introduction of an amendment bill more practical,” the release stated.

The land issue concerning Bhota Hospital has remained unresolved for nearly a decade. Sukhu noted that even during the BJP’s tenure in 2019, the matter was raised, and the Radha Soami Satsang Beas had sought relief from the then-government.

MLAs Suresh Kumar and Kamlesh Thakur, Additional Chief Secretary Onkar Chand Sharma, Advocate General Anoop Ratan, and Law Secretary Sharad Kumar Lagwal were among those present at the meeting.

Separately, the Chief Minister held discussions with senior Congress leaders about developmental projects in the Kangra district.

“The state government is prioritizing the development of Kangra, launching multiple schemes over the past two years to ensure its holistic growth,” he stated.

Sukhu highlighted Kangra’s status as the “Tourism Capital” of Himachal Pradesh, with initiatives underway to promote both adventure and religious tourism in the region.
