Nagpur Municipal Corporation Ordered to Respond by March 17

Nagpur: The Bombay High Court’s Nagpur Bench has provided temporary relief to Meditrina Hospital by staying the evacuation order issued by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Fire Department, which had declared the hospital unsafe.

A division bench of Justice Nitin Suryawanshi and Justice Praveen Patil heard the hospital’s petition and issued a notice to NMC, directing it to respond by March 17.

Fire Safety Violations and Legal Challenge

NMC’s Fire Department had ordered the immediate evacuation of Meditrina Hospital, citing its failure to comply with fire safety regulations for the past 13 years. The hospital was deemed unsafe due to the absence of necessary fire safety measures.

However, the hospital challenged the decision in court, arguing against the evacuation order. Advocate Anoop Gilda represented Meditrina Hospital in the case.

With the court’s temporary relief, the hospital can continue operations until further legal proceedings.
