Doctor, Serving as District PNDT Nodal Officer in Nuh, Accused of Demanding ₹5 Lakh to De-Seal Hospital and Remove Names from Criminal Case
In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Deputy Civil Surgeon and District PNDT Nodal Officer posted in Nuh district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The accused doctor was caught during a trap operation conducted by the Gurugram unit of the ACB after a complaint was lodged against him.
According to officials, the complainant alleged that the doctor had demanded ₹5 lakh in exchange for facilitating the de-sealing of a private hospital and removing the names of the complainant and his wife from a criminal case registered against them.
Hospital Sealed Following Health Department Inspection
The complainant and his wife were operating a hospital named ‘Labuja Karim’ in Punhana, Haryana. During an inspection conducted by the Health Department on June 4, authorities reportedly found several irregularities at the facility. Following the inspection, the hospital was sealed and a case was registered against the couple at the Punhana City Police Station.
The complainant later approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau, alleging that the Deputy Civil Surgeon sought illegal gratification to help resolve the matter and lift the seal imposed on the hospital.
ACB Conducts Trap Operation
Acting on the complaint, ACB officials organized a trap operation after the complainant arranged ₹50,000. During the operation, chemically treated currency notes were handed over to the accused near the Punhana-Shikrawa turn on Sunday afternoon.
The ACB team apprehended the doctor around 2 PM near a brick kiln located at the Punhana-Shikrawa Mod while he was allegedly accepting the bribe. Officials later recovered the bribe amount from the accused’s vehicle.
Chemical Test Confirms Contact with Currency Notes
As part of the investigation, ACB officials conducted a hand-wash test on the spot. The solution reportedly turned pink, indicating contact with the chemically treated currency notes used during the trap operation.
The evidence gathered during the operation formed the basis for further legal action against the accused officer.
Case Registered Under Corruption Laws
Following the arrest, a case has been registered against the Deputy Civil Surgeon under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused has been taken into custody and shifted to Gurugram for further legal proceedings. Authorities stated that he will be produced before a competent court, while further investigation into the case is currently underway.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding corruption allegations within public healthcare administration and the need for strict accountability mechanisms in government health services.
