GPSC to Oversee Direct Recruitment Process
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel announced in the Assembly on Tuesday that 1,146 Class-1 doctor positions in various categories will be filled through direct recruitment in state health institutions. Requisition forms have already been sent to the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) to initiate the hiring process.
Major Appointments at CHCs and PHCs
- 947 Class-1 doctors will be appointed to Community Health Centres (CHCs).
- In the last two years, 127 Class-1 doctors have been recruited at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and CHCs through daily walk-in interviews.
- These doctors are offered a fixed monthly salary of ₹1,30,000.
- PG Bond Duty specialists serve for one year, and currently, 420 specialists are in the process of being appointed.
- Under the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS) scheme, bonded CPS doctors also serve a one-year duty with a monthly stipend of ₹75,000.
- 100 new CPS candidates will be available for deployment soon.
- Doctors are also placed in rural health institutions through the C.M. Setu programme.
Recruitment of Class-2 Doctors and Other Medical Staff
- 1,921 Class-2 doctor posts for PHCs and CHCs have been announced for direct recruitment via GPSC, with doctors expected to be available by 2025.
- Of 3,136 MBBS graduates in 2024, 3,039 have received bonded appointments.
Paramedical and Nursing Staff Recruitment
- 865 Class-3 paramedical cadre posts at CHCs are in the process of being requisitioned and will be filled through the Secondary Service Selection Board.
- 1,902 nursing cadre posts have been assessed through Gujarat Technological University, with results to be announced soon.
- Class-3 positions at PHCs fall under the Panchayat Department, and the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board is conducting recruitment through competitive exams.
Recruitment for Drivers and Class-4 Staff
- Class-3 driver posts and Class-4 positions are being filled through outsourcing, according to Minister Patel.
These recruitments aim to strengthen healthcare services across Gujarat and address staff shortages in government health institutions.
