Sangareddy: District Collector Valluru Kranthi has ordered the dismissal of Dr. Uzma Naaz, a gynecologist at Zaheerabad Area Hospital, for allegedly referring pregnant women to private hospitals instead of treating them at the government facility.

Inquiry Confirms Allegations

Following multiple complaints against Dr. Naaz, an inquiry committee was formed, which found the allegations to be true. Based on the findings, the Collector directed District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. Gayathri Devi to dismiss Dr. Naaz from service immediately.

Additionally, notices were issued to two doctors from Doulthabad and Malchelma primary health centers for negligence in their duties.

Improved Maternal and Infant Care

During a meeting with Health Department officials in Sangareddy on Wednesday, the Collector noted that maternal and infant mortality rates in the district had decreased by 50% compared to the previous year. She emphasized the importance of handling low-risk pregnancy cases at area hospitals and referring high-risk cases to district hospitals only after proper consultation.

Strengthening Maternal Health Monitoring

Kranthi also urged ASHA workers and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) to closely monitor pregnant women under their jurisdiction, providing them with continuous guidance and care.

Government General Hospital Superintendent Dr. Anil Kumar and other officials were present at the meeting.
