Gopalganj: The Health Department is set to begin construction of a 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospital in Gopalganj, with the project slated for the 2025–26 financial year. The decision follows sustained efforts by Dr. Alok Kumar Suman, Member of Parliament and National Treasurer of the Janata Dal (United), who raised the demand in Parliament and through direct appeals to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Health Minister Mangal Pandey.

The land acquisition process for the facility has already been completed in Tirbirwan village of the Sadar block. The hospital will be built at an estimated cost of ₹15 crore, with approval granted by the Central Government and consent confirmed by Health Minister Pandey.

The upcoming AYUSH hospital will offer a combination of Ayurveda, Unani, and Homeopathy treatment systems under one roof, with dedicated doctors from each discipline available. Yoga education and therapies will also be offered, alongside facilities for minor surgeries and specialized Ayurvedic beds.

Existing AYUSH doctors currently serving under school health programs and those deployed in COVID-19 response efforts are expected to be posted at the new facility. With full support and infrastructure, the hospital aims to provide improved traditional healthcare access to the people of Gopalganj.

Gopalganj and Patna are among the select districts chosen for this initiative, marking a significant step in expanding AYUSH infrastructure in Bihar.
