Provisions under Section 23 of the Goa Medical Council Act, 1991

  1. Periodic Renewal Requirement:
    • Registered practitioners must apply to the Registrar for the continuance of their names on the register every five years.
    • Notices are issued via the Official Gazette and registered post, providing a 45-day period for practitioners to respond.
  2. Failure to Renew:
    • Practitioners failing to renew within the initial 45 days are sent another notice, granting an additional 30 days to comply.
    • If the application and prescribed fees are not submitted by the deadline, the Registrar removes the practitioner’s name from the register.
  3. Reinstatement:
    • Practitioners can apply for reinstatement within six months of removal by paying the prescribed fee.
