Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the installation ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Goa Ayurvedic Medical Association (GAMA) in Panaji, where he highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sustained growth in the Ayurveda sector.

Congratulating Dr. Nitin Manjrekar and other office bearers in a post on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister acknowledged the association’s contribution to the steady development of Ayurveda in Goa over the past three decades. He noted that the sector has witnessed significant evolution since its early years.

Focus on Coordination and Professional Standards

Sawant stressed the need for stronger coordination among medical associations to enhance healthcare delivery and maintain high professional standards. He urged Ayurveda practitioners to broaden their horizons by exploring entrepreneurship opportunities and expanding beyond traditional clinical practice.

Push for Entrepreneurship and Government Support

Highlighting institutional support, the Chief Minister pointed to initiatives by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and government-backed schemes like the Chief Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (CMRY), which aim to promote business development and self-employment among professionals, including those in the Ayurveda field.

Strengthening Ayurveda in Mainstream Healthcare

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to traditional systems of medicine, Sawant referred to initiatives such as “Health with Ayurveda,” designed to improve accessibility and integrate Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare services. He noted that such programmes play a key role in strengthening preventive care and offering holistic treatment options to the public.

New GAMA Committee Begins Tenure

Expressing confidence in the newly elected team of the Goa Ayurvedic Medical Association, the Chief Minister said their efforts would be crucial in advancing Ayurveda practices, improving healthcare outcomes, and increasing public awareness about traditional medicine.

The ceremony concluded with the formal induction of the new committee, marking the beginning of its tenure focused on expanding Ayurveda’s reach and impact across Goa.
