Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Government Medical College Anantnag ranked among top four in India for highest purchase figures under PMBJP

Anantnag: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda presented an appreciation award to Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal and Dean of Government Medical College Anantnag (GMC Anantnag), recognising her outstanding contribution to promoting affordable healthcare and strengthening the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).

The award ceremony took place in New Delhi on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas, celebrating the nationwide initiative to make quality generic medicines available at affordable prices.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel, who was present as the Guest of Honour, and Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, who attended as the Special Guest.

GMC Anantnag Jan Aushadhi Kendra Among Top Performers

The recognition was awarded to the Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK09614) operating under GMC Anantnag. The centre was selected among the top four Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the country for recording the highest purchase figures, reflecting its significant role in ensuring access to low-cost medicines.

According to the official invitation, the award acknowledges the institution’s consistent efforts in advancing the government’s vision of making affordable medicines accessible to people across all sections of society.

Recognition Celebrated by Faculty and Staff

Soon after the news of the honour reached the official WhatsApp group of GMC Anantnag, faculty members, doctors and staff flooded the platform with congratulatory messages. Many described the achievement as a proud moment for the entire medical fraternity and staff of the institution.

Dental Care Facilities to Be Upgraded in Budgam

In another development related to healthcare services in Jammu and Kashmir, Government Dental College and Hospital Srinagar has announced plans to upgrade dental care facilities in the remote Khaag block of Budgam district.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Public Health Dentistry of the dental college and the Department of Community Medicine at Government Medical College Srinagar to strengthen dental healthcare services in the region. The initiative is expected to improve access to specialised dental treatment in remote areas of the Union Territory.
