New CSR-backed initiative aims to improve treatment access for children suffering from bone deformities and complex fractures

Government Institute of Medical Sciences has introduced advanced facilities for pediatric orthopaedic surgery to strengthen treatment for children suffering from complex bone disorders across Western Uttar Pradesh.

The upgraded infrastructure has been developed under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative supported by Healthium Medtech in collaboration with Plan International India.

Focus on Treatment of Complex Pediatric Bone Disorders

The new facilities will help doctors manage conditions such as Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), clubfoot, limb deformities, and complex fractures in children.

These conditions often remain untreated in several regions because of limited access to specialised pediatric orthopaedic care, delayed diagnosis, and financial challenges faced by families.

Hospital authorities said the upgraded services will significantly reduce the need for referrals to distant tertiary centres and allow children to receive timely treatment closer to their homes.

Thousands of Children Expected to Benefit

Pediatric orthopaedic disorders affect nearly 1–2 percent of children, but many patients do not receive proper treatment due to lack of infrastructure and affordability issues.

Medical experts warn that delays in treatment can result in permanent deformities, reduced mobility, and long-term disability.

According to officials, the upgraded facility is expected to directly benefit more than 1,000 children annually by improving access to safe and specialised orthopaedic procedures.

GIMS Equipped With Advanced Surgical Technology

Speaking about the initiative, Dr Rakesh Gupta said the institute is now fully equipped to perform complex pediatric orthopaedic surgeries with higher precision.

The hospital has added advanced systems including C-arm imaging units, pediatric hip plating sets, and specialised surgical instruments designed for delicate bone procedures in children.

“These modern systems will help improve surgical precision and treatment outcomes for pediatric patients,” he said.

Healthium Medtech Highlights Focus on Better Clinical Outcomes

Anish Bafna said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and clinical outcomes.

“At Healthium, we are focused on improving clinical outcomes by enabling both innovation and access. Supporting such initiatives reflects our effort to strengthen care delivery systems,” Bafna stated.

Initiative Aims to Reduce Disability Risks in Children

Mohammed Asif said the intervention is expected to improve mobility outcomes and reduce long-term disability risks among children.

“This intervention will directly benefit over 1,000 children every year, ensuring timely, safe, and life-changing orthopaedic treatment without financial or geographic barriers,” he said.

Healthcare experts believe the upgraded pediatric orthopaedic services at GIMS Greater Noida will play a major role in strengthening child healthcare infrastructure in Western Uttar Pradesh and improving the quality of life for affected children.
