Police Crack Down on Fake Doctor Racket Linked to NHM Clinics in Damoh

A major medical fraud case linked to fake MBBS degrees and fraudulent doctor appointments under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district has taken a significant turn, with investigators tracing the alleged mastermind behind the racket.

The scam came to light after police arrested three men accused of posing as doctors at Sanjivani Clinics operating under NHM. Authorities revealed that the accused had allegedly been treating patients at government health centres for nearly a year using forged medical qualifications.

Bhopal-Based Accused Allegedly Coordinated Fake Degree Network

As part of the ongoing investigation, police teams conducted raids in Bhopal and Gwalior and arrested a key accused from Bhopal, who is suspected to have played a central role in operating the fake degree network.

According to investigators, the accused allegedly coordinated the preparation of forged educational documents and facilitated the placement of individuals with fake MBBS qualifications in government-linked healthcare positions.

Officials believe the network systematically supplied forged medical credentials to candidates seeking appointments at rural and semi-urban health facilities operating under NHM initiatives.

Gwalior Doctor Accused of Supplying Fake MBBS Degrees

Police investigations have further revealed that fake MBBS degrees and marksheets were allegedly supplied through a doctor based in Gwalior, who is currently absconding.

Authorities suspect that the accused doctor, along with the Bhopal-based accused, created an organised network involved in manufacturing fake academic documents. According to reports, the first forged MBBS degree was allegedly sold to a resident of Morena.

With the latest arrests, the total number of accused in the case has now risen to six.

Verification Lapses Under Scanner After Medical Fraud Exposed

The shocking revelations have raised serious concerns regarding verification procedures followed during medical appointments under government healthcare schemes.

Investigators are now examining whether additional fake doctors may have been recruited through the same network and posted at health centres under NHM-run initiatives across Madhya Pradesh.

The case has also triggered scrutiny within the Health Department and administrative machinery over the authenticity checks conducted before appointing medical professionals in public healthcare facilities.

Authorities Continue Probe Into Wider Medical Fraud Network

Police and health authorities are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals linked to the fake MBBS degree racket. Officials are also probing whether the forged certificates were used in other districts or healthcare institutions beyond Damoh.

The case has sparked widespread concern over patient safety and the integrity of recruitment systems in government healthcare programmes, especially in rural areas where access to qualified doctors remains limited.
