Doctor Suspended

Bengaluru:
A government doctor posted at Victoria Hospital, affiliated with the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), has been suspended after a news report by a television channel exposed him allegedly issuing fake medical certificates to individuals involved in criminal cases.

The video report showed the doctor, who served as an emergency medical officer, providing fraudulent certificates that were reportedly used by accused persons to evade court appearances or secure bail.

Internal Review Leads to Suspension

Following the telecast, BMCRI initiated an internal investigation, which confirmed the allegations. Based on the findings, a proposal for suspension was submitted and promptly approved.

Mohammed Mohsin, Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department and Vice-President of BMCRI’s Governing Body, issued the suspension order. The directive cited a serious breach of public trust and stated that such actions “damage the reputation of the institution and obstruct the justice system.”

Strict Restrictions and Ongoing Inquiry

The doctor will remain suspended until the inquiry concludes and has been instructed not to leave the city without written permission from authorities.

The incident has sparked wider concern over misuse of medical authority, especially in legal matters. Health officials have reiterated the need for accountability and ethical conduct in the public health system.

Similar Case in Ludhiana

In a related incident, a surgeon from Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, was also suspended after a video surfaced showing him accepting a bribe from a patient’s family. The footage was shown to Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh during an event, prompting immediate disciplinary action.
