Dariyapur: In yet another shocking incident highlighting the growing safety concerns of medical professionals, a doctor at Lokhandwala General Hospital in Dariyapur was brutally attacked and stabbed by the relatives of a patient after he suggested referring them to another hospital.
Incident Details
- The victim, Dr. Safwan Badi (25), a medical officer originally from Morbi, has been working at Lokhandwala Hospital for over 2.5 years.
- On Sunday, he was examining a patient with multiple injuries when he advised the accompanying individuals that a police case would be required.
- Since no surgeon was available at the hospital, he suggested they shift the patient to another medical facility for better treatment.
Attack on Doctor
- The patient’s relatives became aggressive and argued with the doctor and hospital staff.
- The situation escalated when one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed Dr. Safwan on the left side of his chest.
- Despite his injuries, the doctor raised an alarm, and nearby people rushed to help, prompting the attackers to flee the scene.
