A major criminal conspiracy targeting a doctor in Haryana has been thwarted after the Special Task Force (STF) arrested three suspected gang members allegedly planning the murder of a Kurukshetra-based doctor. The accused are believed to be associated with the notorious Kala Rana gang, which has been linked to extortion and violent crimes across Punjab and Haryana.
STF Foils Alleged Murder Conspiracy Against Doctor
According to officials, the operation began with the arrest of a suspect identified as Shubham from Ludhiana. During the operation, STF personnel recovered two automatic firearms and 25 live cartridges from his possession. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had allegedly been assigned the task of murdering a doctor in Kurukshetra.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Karnal STF apprehended the accused before the planned attack could be executed. He was subsequently produced before a court and remanded to four days of police custody for interrogation.
Two More Associates Arrested in Punjab
During questioning, Shubham allegedly disclosed the involvement of two accomplices, both residents of Ludhiana district. Based on the information provided, STF teams conducted raids in Punjab and arrested the two suspects on Monday.
The arrested individuals were later produced before a court and remanded to police custody for further investigation. Authorities believe the trio played a key role in the conspiracy and may have links to a larger criminal network.
Kala Rana Gang Under Investigation
Investigators have identified the accused as members of the Kala Rana gang, a criminal syndicate suspected of involvement in extortion, intimidation, and violent offences across several districts in Punjab and Haryana.
Police officials stated that the gang has allegedly been involved in multiple extortion-related firing incidents in cities such as Mohali, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, and Phagwara. Business owners and other targets who reportedly refused to pay extortion money were allegedly subjected to threats and firing attacks aimed at creating fear and pressure.
STF Expands Probe to Trace Entire Network
STF Inspector Deepender Rana said the accused were thoroughly interrogated during their remand period, leading to the discovery of significant information about the gang’s operations. After completion of the remand, all three accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, police teams are continuing raids to locate other gang members and associates connected to the conspiracy. Investigators are also examining whether the gang was involved in other planned attacks targeting individuals in Haryana and Punjab.
Doctor Safety Concerns Highlighted
The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of medical professionals, particularly those facing threats from criminal elements. The timely intervention by the STF prevented a potentially serious crime and highlighted the importance of intelligence-based policing in protecting healthcare professionals.
