Ferozepur : The sleuths belonging to Special Task Force (STF) have arrested a government doctor posted at Central Jail hospital. The STF sleuths have also recovered 8 gram heroin, 14 cigarette lighters, used silver paper and one half burned ten rupees currency note from the erring doctor identified as Dr. Shashi Bhushan. While addressing the media persons, AIG STF Sandeep Sharma said that Dr. Shashi Bhushan was appointed in the jail hospital in November 2021.“The doctor himself was allegedly a drug addict besides he was providing drugs to the various criminals lodged in the jail. Some jail inmates including Arshdeep alias Arshi, Sunny Prabhakar, Mama and others used to help him”, said AIG Sharma. “For the last 15 days, the doctor was on leave. The matter came to fore when one of the accused Arshdeep was taken on production warrant to Ludhiana in an attempt to murder case. When was being taken to Ludhiana, the accused seemed to be completely intoxicated” said AIG, adding that when interrogated, the accused spilled the beans and revealed as on how the doctor used to provide drugs with the help of injections and glucose drip, added AIG.

The erring doctor was arrested from the city area near civil hospital and was booked under sections 21,22 NDPS Act at STF police station at SAS Nagar (FIR No. 190 Dated 23.08.2022).When contacted, SMO Dr. Satish Kumar said that he has not received any official information regarding the incident. “As soon as the official information will be received, the departmental action shall also be initiated”, said SMO.
