New Delhi : Dr. Varun Goel, a dentist working with the Tihar jail on a contract was arrested for smuggling drugs into the prison for one its inmate Vikas Jha. It has been alleged that the dentist has hidden 82 gms of ganja and tobacco in his shoes.
Narrating the incidence a jail officer said “Though the dentist had passed the security check, his behavior was suspicious. He had visited a group of inmates but was found sitting with one. When we asked him about this, he did not give a reasonable answer. He was frisked by the staff and they found the drugs. The inmate was also caught. We suspect that this has happened before for money, and are conducting an enquiry”. The doctor was arrested under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
