New Adult Vaccination Clinic Launched in Okhla
New Delhi: Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasized the need for adult immunization while inaugurating an adult vaccination clinic at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Okhla. He highlighted that vaccinations are not just for children but are equally crucial for adults, especially those with pre-existing health conditions.
Preventive Healthcare Beyond Childhood Immunization
Speaking at the event, Singh underscored the growing importance of adult vaccination in preventing severe illnesses, particularly among senior citizens and individuals with chronic diseases. “Adults, especially those with existing health conditions, must also be protected against preventable diseases. This clinic is a step towards ensuring accessible, timely immunization for adults, contributing to a healthier Delhi,” he said.
Comprehensive Vaccination Services for Adults
The newly inaugurated clinic will provide a range of vaccines for adults, including those for influenza, pneumonia, hepatitis, tetanus, and shingles.
RS Mishra, Principal Director of Internal Medicine at Fortis Escorts Hospital, stressed the significance of adult immunization. “While childhood vaccination is widely recognized, adult immunization is often overlooked despite its vital role in preventing serious illnesses. This clinic aims to bridge that gap and enhance public health outcomes,” he stated.
Facility Director Vikram Aggarwal reiterated the hospital’s commitment to preventive healthcare, saying, “By expanding access to crucial vaccines, we are not just treating diseases—we are preventing them and improving the quality of life in our community.”
Ensuring Proper Vaccine Administration
The clinic will also focus on proper vaccine storage and handling. Patients will receive vaccine recommendations based on their medical history, physical examination, and risk factors such as chronic conditions or allergies.
Fortis Healthcare Group COO Anil Vinayak was also present at the event, highlighting the initiative’s role in promoting public health and awareness about the benefits of immunization.
